“ Crushed stone, graphite, dried cherry and currant form a dusty and coy but seductive bouquet on the 2019
Valpolicella Classico Superiore Casalvegri. This is a pure and cool-toned expression, with tart red and shades of blue fruit and bright acids that make this a pleasure to taste. It leaves subtle twang of tannins, while tapering off perfumed and lightly structured with a hint of sour citrus.
Very nice. The Casalvegri is a single-vineyard Valpolicella Superiore that’s picked early to maintain acidity, and it matures for eighteen months in large neutral oak casks. Give it another year to fully come together. Drink 2023-2028” – 90 points, Eric Guido, Vinous, January 2022.
