Some of the finest Barbera grapes cultivated in our vineyards located in Canavere, Madonna Como, and Bordini are vinified separately and aged in small French oak barrels. Following this, the wine is allowed to mature in the bottle for several months, during which its remarkable characteristics are finalized, balanced, and enhanced.

The extended aging process in the bottle serves as an unparalleled assurance. The name of this wine is derived from an ancient local Piedmontese song, which narrates the story of a woman named Maria Gioana, who enjoyed drinking wine, and through this, all her troubles were alleviated without the assistance of a physician.

The Fratelli (brothers) Giacosa winery is located in Neive, near Barbaresco. In the meantime, the brothers have been succeeded by their two sons, so that the name Cugini (cousins) Giacosa would be closer to the facts. In any case, Maurizio and Paolo continue their fathers’ business together. They buy grapes from farmers in the area and make wine from them themselves.

With various farmers, especially in grands crus such as Rio Sordo (Barbaresco) and Bussia (Barolo, also Barbera), they have long-term agreements about purchasing the grapes and they also dictate the treatment of the vineyard. In addition, they own various areas, including the vineyard Vigna del Mandorlo (Barolo). Fratelli Giacosa excels in solid standard quality for a reasonable price.

A historic vineyard on the orographic left flank of the Tanaro River, situated in the Alba region. It is produced from a vineyard with good vigor, consistent productivity, and no surplus. resulting in a delightful, elegant, and highly aromatic white wine.

It is preferable to drink it when it is still relatively young, as this is when the wonderful qualities of the bouquet—which come straight from the grapes—are most expressed.
